Sources
Place records come from the Overture Maps Foundation places dataset (August 2026 release), filtered to Malaysian addresses and pet-related categories. Overture places is openly licensed for commercial use (CDLA-Permissive 2.0 / Apache 2.0 / CC0) and includes data contributed by Foursquare Labs, Meta and Microsoft.
Registration status comes from the Department of Veterinary Services Malaysia pet passport registrar list, read in full and matched against our veterinary listings by phone number and postcode.
What is in here
5,300 businesses in five categories: Veterinary Clinics (913), Pet Shops & Aquariums (2,815), Grooming & Services (1,393), Animal Shelters (136), Pet Boarding & Hotels (43). Spread across 16 states and federal territories. 252 of the 913 veterinary clinics carry the DVS badge.
What is missing, honestly
Opening hours: none. The source data does not carry them and we will not invent them. Photos: none. Same reason — you are looking at drawn category covers, not stock images pretending to be a shopfront. Reviews: none. We are not importing scraped ratings.
About 90 listings could not be placed in a state because their record has no valid postcode. They are still reachable but do not appear on state pages.
We also hold roughly 65 breeder records out of the public directory while we decide how, or whether, to list them responsibly.
