What this badge means
And, just as importantly, what it does not mean.
Malaysia's Department of Veterinary Services (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Veterinar) publishes a register of veterinary premises authorised to act as registrars for pet passports and export health certificates. That register is public.
We took every clinic on it and matched them against our 913 veterinary listings, using phone number first and postcode plus name second. Where a clinic matched, it carries the badge. 252 clinics carry it today.
What it does mean
The clinic appears on an official government register, so it exists, it operates as a companion-animal premise, and it has been through the DVS registrar process.
What it does not mean
It is not a quality rating. It is not a government endorsement of the clinic, its prices or its staff. And crucially it is not a licence check: the other 661 veterinary clinics in this directory are equally legitimate. Most clinics simply have no reason to be a pet passport registrar, because most pets never travel abroad.
If you are exporting a pet, the badge is directly useful. For a routine consultation or a vaccination it tells you almost nothing — choose on distance, price and how they treat you.
One correction we made
The DVS list has 270 rows, but 18 of them are not companion-animal clinics — they are DVS state offices, three municipal councils and one university. We removed those, which is why we say 252 and not 270.
