What we collect, what we check, what we refuse to make up, and who is responsible.
PetMap.my is a directory of 5,624 Malaysian pet businesses built from Overture Maps open data and the Department of Veterinary Services registrar list. It publishes only what those sources carry: name, address, phone, website and location. It never invents opening hours, photos, prices or reviews, does not sell ranking, and marks the 252 of 976 veterinary clinics on the DVS pet passport register. Sources and method
Every listing traces to one of two public sources. Place records are taken from the Overture Maps Foundation places dataset, which is openly licensed for commercial use and includes contributions from Foursquare, Meta and Microsoft. We filter it to Malaysian addresses and pet categories, derive the state from the postcode, and remove duplicates.
Registration status is taken from the Department of Veterinary Services pet passport registrar list. We match clinics by phone number first and by postcode plus name second, and we removed the 18 rows on that list that are government offices, councils or a university rather than clinics.
What we do not publish
Opening hours, photos, prices, service menus and reviews. None of these are in the source data. Rather than scrape them from elsewhere or generate them, each page states that they are missing and invites the owner to supply them.
Independence
No business pays to be listed, featured or ranked. Order on every list page is DVS registration first, then data completeness, then name. We are not affiliated with DVS or with any listed business.
Corrections
Email hello@petmap.my. Owners can correct details, add hours and photos, or ask for removal. The build date on every page tells you how current what you are reading is.

Who runs PetMap.my?
It is edited by Nick Lew and published by PetMap.my. It is not affiliated with the Department of Veterinary Services or with any listed business. Nobody pays to be listed or to be ranked.
Where does the data come from?
Two sources. Place records come from the Overture Maps Foundation places dataset, filtered to Malaysian addresses and pet categories. Registration status comes from the Department of Veterinary Services Malaysia pet passport registrar list, read in full and matched by phone number and postcode.
What will PetMap.my never invent?
Opening hours, photos, prices, services offered and reviews. If the source data does not carry it, the page says so instead of guessing. A directory with invented details is worse than one with gaps.
How do listings get ordered?
Clinics on the DVS register first, then by how complete the record is, then alphabetically. Position cannot be bought.
How often is the data rebuilt?
The whole site is regenerated from the source data; the current build is dated 2026-09-04 and every page shows that date. Overture publishes monthly, so listings are refreshed on roughly that cadence.
How do I correct or remove a listing?
Email hello@petmap.my with the business name and town. Owners can add hours and photos for free. Removal requests from the business owner are honoured.
